Augmedics reported the first use of its recently approved disposable Perc Pin patient marker, by a neurosurgeon on September 2 at Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno, NV.
Dr. James Lynch of Spine Nevada inserted the Perc Pin into a patient's posterior superior iliac spine during a lumbar surgery and fusion procedure. The Perc Pin reduces the size of required incisions for percutaneous procedures, ensures rigid fixation, and is available in three lengths, Augmedics said.
The device is an addition to Augmedics' xvision Spine System, an augmented reality surgical navigation system that received 510(k) clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in December 2019.
