Agfa launches virtual colonoscopy app at ECR

VIENNA - A new virtual colonoscopy software application is among the highlights in the European Congress of Radiology (ECR) booth of Agfa HealthCare of Mortsel, Belgium.

Available as an enhancement to the company's Impax 6 PACS software, Impax Virtual Colonoscopy enables endoscopic views of the colon and offers workflow optimization, increased productivity, and easy distribution throughout the healthcare enterprise, according to the company.

Other Impax enhancements on display at ECR this week include Impax Nuclear Medicine, review software that includes integrated MPR/MIP (multiplanar reformatting/maximum intensity projection) functions for volumetric data, calculation of SUV (standardized uptake values) and region-of-interest tools. It also displays clinically relevant PET, CT, MR, and SPECT DICOM image data.

Impax Registration & Fusion allows multimodality fusion of anatomical studies, or a combination of anatomical and physiological studies, such as PET. Impax Orthopaedic Suite offers a variety of orthopedic software tools available via Impax.

On the digital mammography side, Agfa is demonstrating Impax Mammography Screening, a dedicated system for mammography screening environments that can be customized to local workflows and integrated with screening administration and information systems. Impax Data Center is a new scalable DICOM-based archive that is designed to address the storage issues created by the large volume of images generated by facilities with digital mammography systems.

Finally, Agfa is showing Drystar Axys, a tabletop printer with an image resolution of 508 dpi, giving it the ability to print mammography images. Axys will be available in the fourth quarter of 2007.
