Computer workstation and operating system development firm Sun Microsystems of Santa Clara, CA, announced its products have been selected by Agfa HealthCare to be integrated with the Mortsel, Belgium, company's Impax system.
The Sun Ultra 40 M2 Workstation and SunFire X2100 M2 server, integrated along with the Voxar 3D Enterprise advanced visualization product from Barco of Kortrijk, Belgium, will power and add functionality to Agfa's Impax, according to Sun.
The combined system is intended to enable the reading of large datasets throughout the healthcare enterprise, the company said. Agfa selected Sun after a successful "proof of concept" trial conducted with Barco on the Sun infrastructure.
The system is being shown at the RSNA 2007 meeting in Chicago.
