Swedish image enhancement developer ContextVision has implemented its GOPView CT software on the Cell microprocessor.
Developed in collaboration between Sony Computer Entertainment, Toshiba, and IBM, the Cell microprocessor's computational performance can provide a speed of 40 frames per second using common filters, according to the Stockholm-based firm. The Cell processor has been used primarily in the gaming industry, serving as the heart of Sony's Playstation 3 gaming system.
