Radiology informatics firm Guardian Technologies International has completed a clinical study involving the evaluation of its Signature Mapping software with an online database of mammographic x-ray exams, known as the Digital Database for Screening Mammography (DDSM) project.
The Herndon, VA, company said Signature Mapping achieved 97% sensitivity on cancer cases, with 3% false negatives. With noncancer cases, Signature Mapping specified no cancer in 99% of the images, with a false-positive rate of 1%.
Guardian's study analyzed 160 images from 40 normal cases, and 80 images from 40 cancer cases.
