Radiology informatics firm Guardian Technologies International yesterday announced an extension of its collaboration with the Medical Imaging and Informatics Laboratory at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles.
USC researchers led by Dr. H.K. (Bernie) Huang will evaluate Guardian's Signature Mapping algorithm for computer-aided detection (CAD) applications, and will develop prototypes that will serve as models for future use by radiologists.
Guardian and USC will collaborate in three areas: breast imaging and breast cancer research; chest imaging and tuberculosis detection and monitoring; and traumatic brain injury and acute intracranial brain hemorrhaging.
