Dear AuntMinnie Member,
The start of RSNA 2017 is just over a week away, and we know the question you're asking -- what are the top papers I should see when I'm in Chicago?
Fortunately, we have the answer for you in our Road to RSNA preview special section. We've analyzed our traffic data to select the top abstracts based on reader views for each of the nine technology areas we covered.
From a paper on standardizing digital x-ray radiation dose in Portugal in our Digital X-Ray preview to a CT dose monitoring program in Taiwan in our Imaging Informatics section, you can easily see which papers will be making headlines next week.
We're calling the winners the Roadies, and you can view them all by clicking here, or visit the Road to RSNA at rsna.auntminnie.com.
Deep learning for bone age
In our Artificial Intelligence Community, we're highlighting a new story on a deep-learning algorithm for assessing bone age on pediatric hand radiographs.
Determining bone age is critical for assessing a child's development, but manually estimating age can be tedious and prone to interreader variability. What if software could do it instead?
Researchers from Stanford University developed an algorithm based on convolutional neural networks; they tested it on 200 radiographs and compared its performance with that of human reviewers. Find out how well it did by clicking here or by going to ai.auntminnie.com.
More GBCA news
Finally, visit our MRI Community for the latest update on the controversial issue of gadolinium retention from gadolinium-based contrast agents (GBCAs) for MRI scans. Norwegian researchers say they found signs of leftover gadolinium in patients who received a macrocyclic agent -- findings they called "unexpected."
