Graphics processing unit technology developer NVIDIA and Nuance Communications announced during RSNA 2017 that they are working together on machine learning.
Nuance AI Marketplace for Diagnostic Imaging combines NVIDIA's deep-learning platform with Nuance's PowerScribe radiology reporting and PowerShare image exchange network. The combination allows for widespread development and rapid deployment of imaging artificial intelligence (AI) models into existing radiology workflows.
AI Marketplace brings together researchers, developers, medical associations, hospitals, and health IT companies to create image-processing algorithms. It will become a hub for medical imaging AI applications that help radiologists interpret images, autopopulate reports, and focus on the most important cases, according to the firms.
NVIDIA's deep-learning software will provide the training and publishing of applications to the Nuance AI Marketplace, as well as the use in the medical imaging workflow. NVIDIA's Digits developer tool has a new feature to directly publish to the AI Marketplace, while NVIDIA's TensorRT will provide low-latency, high-throughput inference for medical imaging. Nuance can then integrate the algorithms into different worklists, alerting radiologists to cases that need prioritization.
