The U.S. National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering (NIBIB) is teaming up with the American College of Radiology (ACR), the RSNA, and the Academy for Radiology and Biomedical Imaging Research to host a workshop on artificial intelligence (AI) in medical imaging August 23-24 in Bethesda, MD.
The NIBIB said the free workshop aims to bring together scientific and medical experts to answer three questions:
- What are the scientific/informatics and technological hurdles still to be overcome before clinical AI applications in medical imaging are robust with respect to quality, reproducibility, and trustworthiness for clinical use?
- How can these gaps be addressed and hurdles such as database "walls" be overcome?
- How will AI improve the value of medical imaging in healthcare overall?
