The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has cleared Israeli artificial intelligence (AI) software developer Aidoc's AI software for identifying large-vessel occlusion stroke on head CT angiography scans.

Aidoc offers a full AI stroke package that combines the company's AI module for flagging large-vessel occlusion (LVO) on head CT angiography scans and its AI module for detecting intracranial hemorrhage on CT scans. The comprehensive AI stroke package facilitates the identification and triage of both ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke on CT.

Clinical studies conducted at the University of Rochester Medical Center and Yale New Haven Hospital affirmed the capacity of the full AI stroke package to expedite treatment for relevant stroke cases.

The FDA-cleared AI large-vessel occlusion detection software adds to Aidoc's three other previously cleared AI software for flagging pulmonary embolism on pulmonary CT angiograms, cervical spine fractures, and intracranial hemorrhage on head CT scans.
