GE HealthCare (GEHC) has launched AI Innovation Lab, an initiative intended to support its early-concept AI innovations.
AI Innovation Lab will tackle the following five initial AI research projects:
- Crafting an approach that includes expertise from genomics, radiology, and pathology clinicians that could help physicians streamline clinical decision-making and offer patients more personalized care.
- Supporting research being conducted by the Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University in Atlanta, GA, on early prediction of triple-negative breast cancer recurrence.
- Creating methods for separating normal mammography exams from potentially suspicious ones.
- Mitigating preventable risks associated with childbirth.
- Building a multimodal, full-body x-ray foundation model based on a dataset of 1.2 million anonymized x-ray images across a variety of body regions.
The company’s investment in cloud technology supports the project, providing the computing power to drive the development of AI at scale, the company said.
