Four new LCDs, ranging from multimodality monitors to dedicated mammography displays, will join Itasca, IL-based NEC's portfolio on display at the 2006 RSNA conference.
New entrants for NEC include MultiSync LCD2690WUXi, a 2.3-megapixel, 25.5-inch wide-screen LCD that offers a 6.5-millisecond response time (gray to gray), an 800:1 contrast ratio, 1920 x 1200 native resolution, and a 400 cd/m² maximum brightness setting. The display includes a Horizontal in Plane Switching (H-IPS) module for color representation while minimizing off-angle color shift, according to the vendor.
Part of NEC's professional series of displays, LCD2690WUXi includes a detachable stand that is height-adjustable with pivot, swivel, and tilt. It also comes with NEC's X-Light Pro backlight/sensor design, which is designed to keep brightness and color settings over the useful life of the display, and the firm's ColorComp technology, NEC said. The unit is expected to be released in December.
NEC is also showcasing MD205MG-CB, a 5-megapixel grayscale display designed for mammography applications. The display features 2048 x 2560 resolution, 600:1 contrast ratio, 850 cd/m² brightness, a 20.1-inch viewable screen size, and a 170° viewing angle (horizontal and vertical), according to the firm.
It supports grayscale tones in both 10-bit (with 1,024 unique shades of gray) and 8-bit (with 255 unique shades of gray), NEC said. As with LCD2690WUXi, the monitor includes a detachable stand that is height-adjustable with pivot, swivel, and tilt. It also includes the firm's GammaComp MD quality control and conformance software. NEC plans to release the system in April 2007 following U.S. Food and Drug Administration clearance.
In other introductions, NEC is introducing a new line of 1080p multifunction monitors. Targeted at operating rooms, teaching facilities, and digital signage environments, M40 is a 40-inch LCD while M46 is a 46-inch LCD. The displays will be released in December.
