Healthcare information systems vendor IDX Systems reported revenues of $79.6 million in its second quarter, down 12.8% compared with the $91.3 million in sales posted in the same period last year.
Excluding a nonrecurring charge associated with a cost-reduction program announced last month, the Burlington, VT-based vendor had a loss for the period (end-June 30) of $9 million, compared with net income of $700,000 in the second quarter of 1999.
In a bright spot, radiology sales were strong, according to CEO Richard Tarrant. He believes the sales cycle for IDX's core products is beginning to stabilize, indicating resumption of customer investment in healthcare information technology.
