Siemens Medical Engineering has announced the new management team for Shared Medical Systems, its new wholly owned healthcare information systems subsidiary. Francis Lavelle, formerly senior vice president of U.S. customer operations for Malvern, PA-based SMS, has been named president and CEO. Lavelle replaces Marvin Cadwell, who has resigned.
Siemens executives will also be well-represented in SMS’ executive ranks. Former worldwide managing director of Siemens Audiological Engineering, Hans Mehl, has been named CFO. Mehl will replace SMS senior vice president of finance Terrence Kyle.
In addition, Siegfried Bocionek has been appointed to the newly created position of COO. Bocionek was the former president of the Erlangen, Germany-based firm’s software components and workstations division, the unit that developed the syngo software platform.
