Healthcare information systems provider Webmedx has introduced Clinical Information Portal, an Internet-based clinical information tool. Clinical Information Portal will be delivered through an application service provider (ASP) model and currently offers two services: Clinical Report Service and Radiology Information Service.
Clinical Report Service integrates all the tools necessary to create, manage, distribute, and access medical records via the Internet, including scheduling, dictation, transcription, signing, and "electronic chart" access, according to the Pittsburgh-based vendor. Webmedx also believes that the product addresses the need to simplify the process and reduce the cost of creating and distributing medical reports.
Radiology Information Service is a Web-centric RIS that allows for the creation and management of diagnostic imaging information via a secure Internet connection. It is designed around an "electronic chart," which contains reports and images found in traditional hard-copy radiology jackets.
Both Clinical Report Service and Radiology Information Service exceed the guidelines proposed by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) for the security of electronic patient records, according to the firm.
