One of the largest private radiology groups in the U.S., St. Paul Radiology, has partnered with network developer eMed Technologies to install its medical image management and distribution infrastructure throughout the group's enterprise, the companies announced today.
SPR originally adopted Lexington, MA-based eMed's PACS technology in 1996 to help it manage a rapidly growing archive that now includes more than nine million images. The St. Paul, MN-based provider said its new investment in eMed's on-demand architecture will substantially improve efficiency, and enable it to access a more far-reaching clientele.
SPR will implement eMed Ideal, which combines image management, Web communications, and marketing services to manage a large volume of procedures more efficiently, the companies said.
The package includes eMed.net, a Web-enabled image and report distribution system that will enable SPR to provide rapid response to referring physicians anywhere from the radiologists' workstations, according to the companies.
