Data Critical to develop wireless ECG device

Wireless healthcare systems vendor Data Critical has purchased patent rights to develop a wireless device that transmits medical data waveforms, including ECG waveforms, the company said today.

The patent has broad application to a wide range of wireless medical data products, according to Jeff Brown, president and CEO of the Bothell, WA-based firm. Data Critical purchased the patent license from Fukuda Denshi of Tokyo Japan, to which the original patent was issued in 1991. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
