Healthcare IT firm VitalWorks reported revenues of $25.9 million in its second quarter, up 7.9% over the $24 million reported in the same period last year. For the quarter (end-June 30), the Ridgefield, CT-based vendor had a net loss of $4.9 million, compared with a net loss of $14.4 million in 2000.
Excluding depreciation and amortization of $6.6 million, executive severance costs of $800,000, and a $100,000 credit for recouped legal fees, VitalWorks would have had operating income of $3.2 million, compared with an operating loss of $5.7 million last year. The second-quarter results put the company ahead of plan, according to chairman and CEO Joe Walsh.
