Siemens debuts Axiom Artis FC

Siemens Medical Solutions has debuted Axiom Artis FC, a new cardiac and vascular imaging system combining angiography, fluoroscopy, radiography, and information systems technology.

Axiom Artis FC includes the Iselin, NJ-based vendor's syngo common software platform, as well as an image quality enhancement technique known as dynamic density optimization (DDO). DDO works in real-time to harmonize the distribution of gray steps in images, allowing vascular structures distributed over dense areas to be as visible as those located over the lungs, according to Siemens. A motion detector works to eliminate excess image noise.

Axiom Artis FC also includes touchscreen controls and a color-coded interface. Clinicians can also set minimum radiation dose values for each test, and the unit provides a graphical readout of dose values as a percentage of the maximum allowable dosage, according to Siemens.
