Heartlab has added support for international alphabets and characters to its Encompass cardiac digital image management system. Heartlab worked with Basis Technology of Cambridge, MA, to add Unicode components to the software, allowing it to support multiple alphabetic and character sets, as well as international features of the DICOM standard.
As part of the internationalization effort, Westerly, RI-based Heartlab is distributing its Encompass products in Japan under the name CardioAgent via a partnership with Toshiba Medical Systems of Tokyo.
