Kolodner named HIT czar

The U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS) Mike Leavitt yesterday named Dr. Robert Kolodner as the interim National Coordinator for Health Information Technology. He replaces Dr. David Brailer, the first director of the HHS post, who resigned in May.

Kolodner was formerly chief health informatics officer for the Veterans Health Administration and has been involved with the oversight and development of My HealtheVet and VistA, the Veterans Affair's electronic health record (EHR) systems, for more than two decades.
