Eastman Kodak Health Group will unveil the latest version of its CareStream RIS application, and will also showcase its CareStream Enterprise Information Management (EIM) system at the 2006 RSNA show.

2006 11 06 15 42 15 706Key features of the CareStream RIS include speech recognition with voice-generated command and control; specialized features for mammography images, including automated Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) reporting and patient follow-up; and a complete outpatient practice management system that includes patient scheduling, radiologist interpretation, report distribution, management reports, and billing. The new RIS software also includes Web-based distribution capabilities for referring physicians.

The company will also exhibit its CareStream EIM system that delivers access to imaging exams from multiple specialties, such as cardiology and oncology, while facilitating integration of images with electronic medical record (EMR) systems. The software is available for order, according to Rochester, NY-based Kodak.

Kodak's content viewing capabilities in its CareStream EIM come in two forms: a Web browser capable of launching applications (such as DICOM viewers, Adobe Acrobat Reader, or Microsoft Paint) so the desired medical record can be displayed on any PC, and a content viewer capable of displaying DICOM studies, JPEG images, and Adobe PDF files at nursing stations and other locations with networked PCs. Both capabilities are sold as options.
