The U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) and the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) said they will begin working on a common inpatient electronic health record (EHR) system at a meeting of the American Health Information Community (AHIC), a public-private sector U.S. Healthcare and Human Services (HHS) advisory group.
The announcement of the collaboration was made by VA Secretary Jim Nicholson and Assistant Secretary of Defense for Health Affairs William Winkenwerder in the meeting, which was chaired by HHS Secretary Michael Leavitt.
