An Israeli healthcare maintenance organization (HMO), Maccabi Healthcare Services, has released a healthcare information technology (HIT) product specifically for HMOs.
The Health Value Added Patient Care Knowledge Base application was developed by Maccabi to manage its more than 30 million patient-HMO interactions annually among its 1.7 million members.
The product is offered as a hands-on consulting service that includes needs characterization, change management education, implementation guidance, and comprehensive follow-up, Maccabi said. Client organizations can elect to use Maccabi's integrated IT platform or transfer Maccabi's principles and methodology to its own IT system.
The HMO reported that its system has been selected by Bulgaria's national healthcare information system, and will serve 8 million people when fully implemented.
