Healthcare software developer Commissure has added a new module, Peer Review, to its RadWhere structured speech reporting application.
The new module tracks the denomination of cases read by each radiologist; which enables it to invoke the required peer review process, keeping proper statistics. The module also offers the capability to use Lexicon Mediated Entropy Reduction (LEXIMER), a computer algorithm that conducts independent analysis and classification of unstructured radiology reports based on the presence of clinically important findings, to quantify the pathology and findings in a case the radiologist misses -- providing the capability to direct required educational intervention.
The New York City-based firm said the release comes on the heels of the peer review accreditation requirement by the American College of Radiology (ACR) and the implementation of the ACR's physician peer review program, RADPEER.
Commissure said that the new module permits a peer review process that allows for regular, random selection of studies for review, double reading by two radiologists, a four-point scoring scale, quality improvement policies, and summary statistical data for each physician by modality.
According to the firm, RadWhere Peer Review is completely ACR-compliant, closely mirrors the RADPEER system, and can optionally connect to the ACR-hosted eRADPEER site.
