Cerner Q1 shows double-digit sales increase

Healthcare information systems provider Cerner of Kansas City, MO, reported growth in sales and earnings for its fiscal 2007 first quarter (end-March 31).

For the period, the company posted revenues of $365.9 million, a 14% increase compared with the $321.2 million recorded in the same quarter last year.

Net earnings for the firm also rose, to $27.9 million during the first three months of the fiscal year, compared with the $20.1 million in earnings posted for the first quarter of fiscal 2006.

The company said it expects revenue in the second quarter of 2007 to be approximately $370 million to $380 million. For the year 2007, Cerner stated that it expects revenue between $1.54 billion and $1.57 billion, or growth of 12% to 14% over 2006.
