Hewlett-Packard (HP) of Palo Alto, CA, has joined Salt Lake City-based Medicity and Perot Systems of Plano, TX, to help create the nation's largest statewide health information exchange (HIE) utility service, in California.
The California Regional Health Information Organization (CalRHIO) made the announcement of HP's participation, as the coalition progresses toward the secure access of electronic medical records for California healthcare providers and their patients.
CalRHIO estimates that at least 50,000 patients in the Golden State experience substandard care due to medical information missing from their records.
