Growth in new business bookings helped power revenue and earnings at healthcare information systems provider Cerner in the second quarter (end-June 30).
Revenue increased 17% to $386.6 million, compared with $330.6 million in the second quarter of 2006. Adjusted net earnings were $33.8 million, a 25% gain over $27 million in adjusted net earnings in the same quarter a year ago.
For the six-month period, revenue increased to $752.5 million, compared with $651.8 million in the same period of 2006. Net earnings climbed to $61.7 million, compared with $47.1 million in the first half of last year.
Cerner expects revenue in the third quarter to be approximately $385 million to $395 million. For all of 2007, the Kansas City, MO-based company anticipates revenue between $1.55 billion and $1.57 billion, which would be 14% to 15% greater than in 2006.
