Royal Philips Electronics of Amsterdam has signed an agreement to acquire healthcare information technology firm Ximis of El Paso, TX, a provider of radiology information systems (RIS).
Ximis will be incorporated into the healthcare informatics business group of Philips Medical Systems division based in Andover, MA. The two companies expect the deal to close in the third quarter of 2007.
Ximis' main product is Xiris (Extended Internet Radiology Information System), a web-based RIS that serves clients ranging from community hospitals to large, multi-facility organizations. Xiris manages patient registration, scheduling, exam tracking, staff and resources, and generates reports and statistical information. Xiris will complement Philips' iSite PACS solution, according to Philips.
