Siemens Medical Solutions and Kameda Healthinformatics Institute of Tokyo have launched a joint venture company.
Called Siemens Kameda Healthcare IT Systems, the new firm will focus on enhancing Kameda's KAI clinical informatics system, according to Siemens of Erlangen, Germany. Siemens will have two-thirds ownership of the joint venture, while Kameda will hold one-third ownership.
Janet Dillione, president of Siemens Medical Solutions Health Services, will be chairperson of the joint venture, while Toshitada Kameda will be vice chairperson. Current Kameda Healthinformatics Institute president Shinji Tanaka will also serve as president of Siemens Kameda Healthcare IT Systems.
In other Siemens news, Siemens Japan and Mochida Pharmaceutical have agreed to modify the ownership interest in their ultrasound joint venture, Mochida Siemens Medical Systems. Under the agreement, Mochida Pharmaceutical has transferred 16% of its outstanding shares to Siemens Japan, making the company a 51% equity stakeholder.
As a result, Mochida Siemens Medical Systems will now become a fully consolidated subsidiary of Siemens. Holger Klotz, managing director and CEO of Siemens and NEC joint venture Mobisphere, will also join the company's managing team as CEO and chairman.
