Never in the history of healthcare has information technology captured the attention of caregivers like it has today.
Hospitals large and small, imaging centers, radiology practices, and community clinics around the world are investing financial, technological, and human resources to connect to databases, storage archives, PACS, RIS, electronic medical records (EMRs), and more in an effort to maximize patient care.
The priorities for healthcare IT now and in the next several years are outlined in the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) 2007 Leadership Survey. More than half of the respondents (54%) cited the reduction of medical errors to increase patient safety as their main reason for implementing technology. Also high on the priority list is replacing/upgrading inpatient clinical systems (48%) and implementing an EMR system (48%).
Without a doubt, IT will continue to evolve and advance, driving healthcare's goal for effective, efficient, and secure ways to deliver quality care.
Many of those cutting-edge technologies will be on display at RSNA 2007. Here is a sampling of products to view this year in Chicago.
