HxTI debuts open Xebra platform

Healthcare services and information technology provider Hx Technologies (HxTI) of Philadelphia has announced the public availability and free open source licensing of its Xebra platform for Web-based distribution and clinical review of medical imaging.

Written in Java, Xebra securely transmits and reviews medical images over the Internet, and is designed to work with PACS networks. It provides interoperability based on JPEG 2000 and WADO (Web access to DICOM persistent objects), and includes encryption and network security features. Xebra has been cleared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, HxTI said.
