Dr. Eliot Siegel, vice chairman of the department of diagnostic radiology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore, will deliver his annual state-of-the-project update about the National Cancer Institute's Biomedical Informatics Grid (caBIG) and the National Biomedical Imaging Archive (NBIA).
The caBIG imaging workspace is evolving from identification of challenges in imaging informatics to development of standards and software to address those challenges. It's being used in practical implementations designed for the diagnostic imaging and radiation oncology communities. The software is beginning to be utilized in commercial applications as well as for research.
Siegel will discuss how the tools of the caBIG imaging workspace and the clinical trials management workspace have been integrated together. This new development is expected to accelerate the process of better integration of imaging tools into the routine data collection process associated with clinical trials.
