GE Healthcare IT has unveiled a series of steps to assist customers through World Health Organization ICD-10 coding standards mandated by the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) by October 1, 2013.
ICD-10 legislative changes will affect coding for every facility and healthcare professional covered by HIPAA.
The Chalfont St. Giles, U.K.-based vendor is planning for releases with the necessary upgrades to support ICD-10, such as Centricity Business v5.0, scheduled for beta release in November and general release in the second quarter of 2011.
For all Centricity Business customers on releases 4.0 and 4.3, upgrades are expected to be available in the fourth quarter of 2011.
GE's previews were released at this week's Medical Group Management Association (MGMA) annual meeting in New Orleans.
