Univ. of Western Australia debuts imaging iPad app

The University of Western Australia's Centre for Software Practice (CSP) has released Diagnostic Imaging Pathways (DiPHD), an imaging decision-support application for Apple's iPad.

Developed by CSP in collaboration with Royal Perth Hospital's department of imaging services, the app is designed to help clinicians choose the most appropriate diagnostic imaging examinations in a wide range of clinical scenarios, according to the institution.

It includes more than 130 pathways covering all the major organ systems and common clinical scenarios.

Developed based on broad clinical consensus and best available evidence, the pathways are under continuous review and development, according to CSP.

Professor Richard Mendelson served as the principal clinical lead for Diagnostic Imaging Pathways. Future pathways will also incorporate pathology and clinical referral guidelines, according to CSP.
