Radiation therapy firm Varian Medical Systems will highlight the next release of its Aria oncology information system at the 2011 joint meeting of the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM) and the Canadian Organization of Medical Physicists (COMP) in Vancouver, British Columbia.
Featuring enhancements designed to provide greater ease of use, version 11 of Aria includes a new icon-oriented interface that employs recognized pictures and symbols rather than words to guide navigation, according to the vendor. Users also can configure a personalized home screen to serve as a dashboard that aggregates frequently used information and utilities in one place.
In addition, Varian said it has incorporated tighter integration with its Eclipse treatment planning software. Version 11 was recently certified for use as an electronic medical record (EMR) under the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act, meaning it can be used to qualify for incentive payments under Medicare.
