Speech recognition and software developer Nuance Communications announced a multiyear medical intelligence collaboration with UPMC, which is affiliated with the University of Pittsburgh Schools of Health Sciences, the company said.
Nuance and UPMC have signed a 10-year joint development agreement under which they will create speech and clinical language understanding technologies. The partnership also includes a technology and services license agreement under which UPMC will install Nuance's healthcare IT packages at more than 20 hospitals, 30 imaging centers, and 400 outpatient sites, according to Nuance.
