Medical image sharing firm LifeImage said it's releasing certain open application programming interfaces (APIs) to allow developers of healthcare information technologies or imaging devices to provide exchange of medical images and related patient records directly from their software.
LifeImage APIs can be integrated with PACS, electronic medical records (EMRs), dictation and reporting software, CD/DVD writers, visualization software, and personal health record (PHR) applications, according to the vendor. The company said that its network has been used to share more than 160 million medical images across healthcare providers representing 40,000 affiliated physicians.
