DR Systems launches EHR for radiology

PACS software developer DR Systems announced that its cloud-based ambulatory electronic health record (EHR) system for radiologists is now commercially available for sale.

The company's eHR Meaningful Use for Medical Imaging system has successfully completed beta testing. One of its beta test sites was the Pueblo Radiology Medical Group in Santa Barbara, CA.

The eHR system's software can be used as a standalone system. It is vendor neutral and can be interfaced with any RIS, PACS, electronic medical record, or hospital information system.

DR Systems is touting the software's ability to efficiently collect patient information. Patients can preregister for an exam via the Internet or in a radiology practice's waiting room. This information is automatically entered into the eHR.

The software enables radiologists to achieve meaningful use certification for using electronic health records, in accordance with the criteria of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), according to DR Systems.
