ONC's Reider will keynote ACR informatics summit

The American College of Radiology (ACR) announced that Dr. Jacob Reider, acting chief medical officer of the U.S. Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT (ONC), will deliver the keynote address at its forthcoming imaging informatics summit being held in Washington, DC, next month.

Reider's presentation will focus on diagnostic imaging and the future of meaningful use. The October 11 summit will also include a presentation explaining what radiology practices need to know about stage 2 meaningful use, including what initiatives are being undertaken by vendors.

A conference for users and potential users of the ACR National Radiology Data Registry (NRDR) will be held on October 12. Topics will include the best ways to use registries for quality improvement, improvements being made to registries to make them more relevant to healthcare providers and patients, and challenges faced in the process of registry participation and methods to overcome them.
