Speech recognition and software developer Nuance Communications announced that users of electronic health record (EHR) software from Epic Systems can now access voice-enabled clinical information captured through Epic's Haiku for the iPhone and Canto for the iPad.
Integrating Nuance's cloud-based voice recognition with Epic's Haiku and Canto applications will streamline mobile clinical documentation, according to Nuance. Users will be able to access automatic updates of personal speech profiles, medical vocabularies, and user-defined shortcuts, and they will be able to enter progress notes, histories, and physical exams via voice.
