Peer review can be cumbersome in a large radiology department. Exams selected for peer review need to be relevant, and the process also needs to be expedient and fair.
Dr. Tarik Alkasab, PhD, an assistant radiologist and director of emergency informatics, will discuss a COGPR software tool that was internally developed, tested, refined, and deployed.
The tool is integrated with the hospital's enterprise authentication system and the department's RIS (Centricity, GE Healthcare) and PACS (Agfa HealthCare). It selects random cases for review based on a set of inputs that includes time ranges and exam codes, presents images and reports of the selected cases, and records the ratings of the reviewing radiologists.
The tool's administrative functions will also be discussed. Alkasab said that the COGPR tool has been well-received by both the radiologists and administrative staff of the department.
