RIS/PACS vendor Medweb and secure messaging software provider DocbookMD have formed an alliance to market and sell Docbook Gateway, software that provides secure transfer of clinical information.
The companies introduced Docbook Gateway this week at the American Telemedicine Association annual meeting in Austin, TX.
Docbook Gateway accepts messages from hospital information systems, electronic medical records and PACS, and then automatically routes relevant lab results, radiology images, and reports to a physician's smartphone or tablet device. It uses standard informatics protocols (HL7, DICOM) and Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise profiles to sift through multiple hospital and private practice information systems.
It recognizes and differentiates stat consultation requests, reports, images, and lab values, and sends a separate alert to a mobile device. Recipient physicians use software with a single-button interface.
