Healthcare IT company Imprivata announced that a report from HIMSS Analytics shows Canadian hospitals face data access and workflow efficiency challenges as they continue to implement electronic health record (EHR) systems.
The Imprivata-commissioned study cites how EHR adoption can affect workflow efficiency and data access, and it identifies single sign-on (SSO) technology as a possible solution to streamline access to clinical systems and patient information.
The study is based on interviews with 12 IT executives from hospitals in nine provinces and territories throughout Canada. The executives noted a lack of integration between electronic systems, a frequent inability to access information quickly, and privacy and security concerns.
