Healthcare information systems firm McKesson has introduced radiofrequency identification (RFID) cabinets as part of its Point of Use Supply product line.
The cabinets integrate with clinical workflow to support patient safety while making it easier for providers to monitor inventory and manage expenses, particularly in areas such as cardiology, radiology, and the operating room, McKesson said.
The RFID cabinets are integrated with the company's cardiology and surgical management systems to support low-touch supply chain management along with clinical documentation. New capabilities include tracking lot numbers, serial numbers, and expiration dates. The cabinets also improve consignment supply management by enabling staff to track supplies from the point of receipt, the firm said.
McKesson will exhibit the cabinets along with its latest supply chain management systems at the upcoming Association for Healthcare Resource and Materials Management (AHRMM) conference being held July 28 to 31 in San Diego.
