Electronic health record (EHR) software developer MedInformatix has teamed with messaging provider PhoneTree in a bid to create new patient messaging tools.
The companies have already been cooperating for years, but the new agreement extends the relationship to create more sophisticated communication and engagement tools, according to the firms.
The first phase includes the integration of PhoneTree's HealthWave messaging solution with MedInformatix' EHR and enterprise project management (EPM) platforms. HealthWave enables practices to contact patients by phone, text, email, or any combination thereof to inform them of appointments, instructions for pre- and postcare, payment options and updates, and other important provider-patient information, the companies said.
The second phase will implement a bidirectional interface to integrate the shared client base of MedInformatix and PhoneTree, allowing users to access messaging tasks from either company's dashboards, according to the firms. The interface is expected to be available by the end of 2013.
