Healthcare IT and advanced visualization developer Merge Healthcare has formed a strategic partnership with AthenaHealth.
AthenaHealth will integrate Merge's iConnect Network with its national cloud-based platform, enabling AthenaHealth clients to receive and view exam results, diagnostic-quality images, and other patient information within the workflow of the company's athenaClinicals electronic health record (EHR) software.
The partnership will support interoperability between radiologists and providers by decreasing duplicate tests and radiation exposure, improving patient outcomes, and reducing the cost of care, according to the companies.
With the iConnect Network, Merge is able to deliver reports directly into athenaClinicals, giving users of athenaClinicals real-time access to view diagnostic information such as imaging studies and interpretations within their existing EHR workflow, Merge said.
