A recent survey found that more than 70% of respondents believe their organizations have failed to maximize the full potential of achieving meaningful use (MU) under the U.S. government's IT stimulus program.
The following were the biggest barriers to achieving meaningful use, according to healthcare IT consulting firm Stoltenberg Consulting:
- Lack of resources: 50%
- Restricted time frames: 23%
- Lack of buy-in from organizations: 15%
- Competing health IT projects: 12%
Also, the biggest health IT topics for 2014 were as follows:
- ICD-10: 47%
- Big data: 27%
- Electronic health record implementation: 16%
- Meaningful use: 10%
The survey was conducted at the 2014 Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) annual conference in Orlando, FL, according to the company.
