GE Healthcare said it will acquire analytics provider CHCA Computer Systems in a bid to advance its industrial Internet portfolio.
CHCA specializes in operating room (OR) management and analytics via its Opera software application, which offers real-time data to increase productivity and patient satisfaction in the OR, GE said.
The software can improve patient outcomes by reducing wait times, preventing cancellations, and increasing patient throughput, GE said. Allowing greater visibility into what is happening in the next hour and week in the OR helps increase capacity and efficiency and enhance the performance of surgical staff, according to the firm.
The acquisition will allow GE to offer its customers end-to-end workflow and decision-support software. The move is in line with the company's industrial Internet strategy and commitment to investing in strong businesses that enhance its software capabilities, GE said.
