Healthcare IT and advanced visualization developer Merge Healthcare plans to release a retinal screening device, the company announced.
The firm's iConnect Retinal Screening device allows providers to identify and diagnose patients with diabetic retinal disease. It incorporates Merge's cloud infrastructure, iConnect Cloud Archive, and Merge Eye Care PACS, an interoperable, subscription-based service, according to Merge.
iConnect Retinal Screening is currently undergoing a pilot program launch and is scheduled for general availability by the end of Merge's second quarter. Future uses for the package will include screenings for glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration, and other serious neurological disease, the company said.
